The World Book Online for Kids is designed to be used by elementary school children.  This site has simple navigation, high- interest and easy to read articles, interactive maps, and many images and illustrations.  The articles are written for beginning readers and use a larger text size.  A simple search is prominently displayed on the front page of the site and children may also choose to use the subject icons as well.

Articles generally include enough information to provide a solid foundation about the subject.  Visual aids such as video and pictures reinforce and clarify the information provided.  Questions and other study aids are available to help review important information from major articles.

Some features of note include:
  • World of Animals:  a fun way to research and compare animals
  • Maps and More:  Interactive Maps, World book articles are displayed as push pins at their geographical coordinates.
  • Maps and More:  Atlas, full color political maps for all countries, with a variety of other maps such as economy and population for many countries.
  • Maps and More:  Outline Maps and Flags, black and white outlines of countries and flags.
